Quick Essential Oil Gardening Tips & Tricks 

~For a simple garden tool cleaner, mix 10 drops of Melaleuca (Tea Tree) with 33 ounces of distilled water and add to a spray bottle. Spray on tools and wipe clean without any toxins or added chemicals.

~ To attract pollinators to your garden naturally, use Lavender essential oil. Simply add a few drops to a spray bottle, fill with water, and spray! Repeat frequently.

Make your own non-toxic weed killer from home using vinegar and Clove essential oil! Vinegar is used as an effective natural herbicide and weed killer while Clove essential oil works alongside to naturally rid your garden of unwanted weeds. To make, mix a full-strength vinegar with 10 drops of Clove essential oil, add to a spray bottle, and spray away! Mix well before each use.

~Bites and stings from bees, wasps, ants, and other insects are always a possibility when gardening, even for the most careful gardener. If this unfortunate occurrence happens to you, apply Lavender and Peppermint essential oil directly to the bite or sting for a soothing and comforting sensation.

~Peppermint and Geranium are both excellent oils to have on hand while gardening. Combine these oils with Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to skin before gardening to protect yourself from ants, spiders, beetles, ticks, and fleas.

~One of the trickiest parts of building and maintaining a healthy garden is keeping pests out. Conventional insecticides contain harmful chemicals that could be dangerous to pets or family members. Luckily, essential oils contain powerful properties that can help keep your garden bug-free, the natural way. This simple DIY uses the power of Peppermint oil to ward off unwanted visitors, keeping your home and garden happy.

Ingredients

16 ounce spray bottle

15–20 drops Peppermint oil

Water

Directions

Fill a 16 ounce glass spray bottle with water, leaving an inch or so of room at the top. Add 15–20 drops of Peppermint oil and shake well before each use. Apply spray to every plant in your garden, making sure to cover the stems and undersides of leaves as well. Spray again after each rainfall.

 

Note: To help kill weeds, you may substitute 8 ounces of water for 8 ounces of vinegar in this DIY. If you choose to do so, do not apply directly to garden plants, and use white vinegar only. Apple cider vinegar emits a sweet smell that fruit flies love, and can make a pest problem much worse.

Add a few drops DDR Prime to a carrier oil and apply to the thyroid area on a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off basis. (On alternate weeks, use a roller bottle with 20 drops Grapefruit essential oil, 10 drops Zendocrine Detoxification Blend, 5 drops of Peppermint essential oil, and fill the rest with fractionated coconut oil.)
(Be careful to then avoid direct sunlight to your thyroid area for 12 hours as grapefruit is photosensitive!)

Women Do Not Need To Suffer

Ladies, your body use more calcium during your menstruation cycle when compared to any other time during the month, and as you know this usually comes with many unwanted side effects.

doTERRA’s Clary Calm is amazing for balancing hormones and Grapefruit oil is powerful supporter of the liver during menstruation which can help relieve head tension caused from menstruating.

I recommend taking 4 capsules of doTERRA’s Women’s Bone Nutrients twice daily, adding 1 tablespoon of powdered magnesium in the bath ( for smooth muscle relief of cramps). placing 4 drops of Grapefruit oil under your tongue, and placing 4 drops Grapefruit over your liver ( with a carrier oil).

Additionally, you can roll Clary Calm over the ovaries and uterus as needed throughout the day.

Bonus Tip: Drink lots of water!

Additional oils for soothing support of cramps, aches, and pains: Aromatouch, Marjoram, Deep Blue, Basil, Ginger, and Wintergreen.

Apply topically as needed.

Sleep and essential oils

I am so excited about doTERRA’s new Sleep blend and complex!

It WORKS!!!

 

Sleep is CRITICAL for our health and longevity. While we sleep we process information, develop memories, remove waste products, process emotions, grow and repair damage, replace energy reserves, and rebuild metabolism.

Short term sleep disruption can cause loss of attention, high level of micro-sleeps, failure to process information, impulsivity, and loss of empathy, memory impairment and reduced cognition and creativity.

Long term sleep disruption can cause immune suppression, increased infection/cancer risk, increased cardiovascular disease, risk of diabetes II , metabolic syndrome.

Lack of sleep can also cause mood instability, anxiety, increased stimulant/sedative use and increased risk of mental health.

In USA 100,000 crashes every year are due to sleepiness.

Lack of sleep drives one towards caffeine and other stimulants to function during the day.

So what do we do? Implement and practice good sleep habits.

~Remove distractions from the sleeping space.

~Keep your sleep space dark, remove electronics and keep the room cool and quiet.

~Invest in a good mattress set the lights low lights prior to bedtime and diffuse doTERRA essential oils. I recommend Serenity, Peace, or Balance.

~Be consistent with your bed and wake time

~Do not lay in bed frustrated. Get up and read a book or take a bath until you feel sleepy then go back to bed.

~Create a relaxing bedtime routine – use your essential oils, read, get off technology at least one hour before bedtime if not sooner,  play soft and relaxing music, do a short meditation or breathing exercises.

Preparing for sleep

~Minimize light exposure 30 min before bedtime.

~Keep meals regular – not too close to bedtime.

~Avoid alcohol or sedatives to induce sleep.

~Exercise, but not within 3-4 hours of bed.

~Avoid stressful situation before sleep.

~Keep naps to 20 minutes avoid long naps

~Use doTERRA Serenity essential oil and restful complex.

~Take two soft gels 30 minutes before bedtime.

How do I use doTERRA Serenity Restful Blend? 

~Diffuse while preparing for bed and while sleeping

~Rub on the bottoms of feet

~Place a drop inside pillowcase

~ Place a drop in a warm bath or shower

Before hearing about the Days for Girls organization, I never realized what a major influence feminine hygiene can have on the life of a girl in a developing country. In many parts of the world, young girls and women are forced to miss school and work opportunities because they don’t have the proper feminine hygiene supplies. This is something that we take for granted in the United States—we have easy access to feminine supplies and don’t have to miss weeks of school or work every month.
dōTERRA has joined efforts with Days for Girls, helping them with countless projects over the last several years, as they strive to help girls around the world maintain proper hygiene.
