Support your adrenal glands naturally

Maintaining healthy adrenal glands (adrenals) is a key to overall wellness and longevity. Unfortunately, due to our stressed lifestyle, most of us suffer from adrenal fatigue.

Signs of adrenal fatigue are weight gain or loss, salt/sugar cravings, loss or low libido, brain fog, low Blood Pressure, frequent illness or lowered immunity, fatigue after physical and/or mental exertion, irritability, and difficulty in sleeping.

There are three types of adrenal dysregulation: tired and wired, can’t sleep, increase in energy in the evening and exhausted all the time.

Lifestyle choices that support your adrenals: 

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep. Going to bed and getting up at the same time every day.

Go to bed before 10pm.

Staying in bed until 9am, the most restorative time for your adrenals is between 7am-9am

11 min nap 2x per day

Hydration – divide your weight by two, drink that number in oz of filtered water daily. Add 3-5 drops of your favorite citrus oil (doTERRA’s lemon, grapefruit or wild orange) per 20-30oz of water.

Adrenal supportive diet:

Lower carb breakfast: protein and vegetables

Lower carb lunch: protein and veggies

Quality protein/vegetables/complex carb dinner

Snacks may be needed to maintain blood sugar balance

Eat within an hour of rising

May need a snack before bed

AromaTouch Technique 1x per week

No caffeine

Basil: overall support

Bergamot: decreases occasional anxiety

Pettigrain: relaxing and soothing

DIY Deep Hair Conditioner

Did you know that you can use essential oils for hair? As gentle, natural components derived from the earth, certain essential oils can promote healthy-looking hair. While many hair products on the market are filled with chemicals, using essential oils for hair provides you with a safe, natural way to support beautiful locks. I recently made this DIY Deep Hair Conditioner at home using some of my favorite doTERRA essential oils—Peppermint and Geranium. With only a few ingredients and your choice of essential oils, you can easily make this essential oil deep conditioner at home to give your hair a smooth, healthy shine.

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 drops doTERRA essential oils
Stand or hand mixer

A few great essential oils for your hair include: Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Geranium, and Clary Sage. You can use one or all five of the essential oils in your deep conditioner.

Directions:
Put coconut oil, olive oil, and essential oils in mixing bowl.
Mix on medium/high speed for 5 minutes or until ingredients are whipped to a thick and creamy consistency.
Once whipped, apply to clean dry hair.
Comb through with wide tooth comb to evenly distribute.
Let sit 15-20 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and style as desired.
Repeat once a week or as often as desired.
Enjoy your soft, healthy, and chemical-free hair!

Prayer of Gratitude

Today I am grateful for the cloudy skies above and the intermittent sun breaks. Grateful for the light rain falling on the red and golden leaves that cover the yards, sidewalks and streets. All those fall colors and that fresh November air on my face. And as I gaze around and inhale the cool air, I am grateful to be immersed in this everyday magic. Grateful to be alive and to recognize the magnificence of these moments in time and space.

Harmony blend for your pooch

Harmony Dog Diffuser/Roller Bottle Blend 

My dear friend Jeffrey Evans dog lover, and founder of  Angels with Misplaced Wings shared this blend  for calming and settling your anxious, aggressive or stressed-out pooch. It’s so effective I wanted to share with all of you!

Mix doTERRA’s whisper, lavender, serenity, and balance.

Diffuser blend mix 3 drops of each oil and diffuse in an open environment.

For a stronger effect mix 10 drops of each oil in a roller bottle then top off with fractionated coconut oil. Apply to bottoms of paws every 15 min till  your pooch has settled.

Sleep and essential oils

I am so excited about doTERRA’s new Sleep blend and complex!

It WORKS!!!

 

Sleep is CRITICAL for our health and longevity. While we sleep we process information, develop memories, remove waste products, process emotions, grow and repair damage, replace energy reserves, and rebuild metabolism.

Short term sleep disruption can cause loss of attention, high level of micro-sleeps, failure to process information, impulsivity, and loss of empathy, memory impairment and reduced cognition and creativity.

Long term sleep disruption can cause immune suppression, increased infection/cancer risk, increased cardiovascular disease, risk of diabetes II , metabolic syndrome.

Lack of sleep can also cause mood instability, anxiety, increased stimulant/sedative use and increased risk of mental health.

In USA 100,000 crashes every year are due to sleepiness.

Lack of sleep drives one towards caffeine and other stimulants to function during the day.

So what do we do? Implement and practice good sleep habits.

~Remove distractions from the sleeping space.

~Keep your sleep space dark, remove electronics and keep the room cool and quiet.

~Invest in a good mattress set the lights low lights prior to bedtime and diffuse doTERRA essential oils. I recommend Serenity, Peace, or Balance.

~Be consistent with your bed and wake time

~Do not lay in bed frustrated. Get up and read a book or take a bath until you feel sleepy then go back to bed.

~Create a relaxing bedtime routine – use your essential oils, read, get off technology at least one hour before bedtime if not sooner,  play soft and relaxing music, do a short meditation or breathing exercises.

Preparing for sleep

~Minimize light exposure 30 min before bedtime.

~Keep meals regular – not too close to bedtime.

~Avoid alcohol or sedatives to induce sleep.

~Exercise, but not within 3-4 hours of bed.

~Avoid stressful situation before sleep.

~Keep naps to 20 minutes avoid long naps

~Use doTERRA Serenity essential oil and restful complex.

~Take two soft gels 30 minutes before bedtime.

How do I use doTERRA Serenity Restful Blend? 

~Diffuse while preparing for bed and while sleeping

~Rub on the bottoms of feet

~Place a drop inside pillowcase

~ Place a drop in a warm bath or shower

~Place a drop in palms and inhale

~Good for the whole family
