Promote Restful Sleep with Essential Oils

Noble and elegant Magnolia flowers (06)

Essential Oils are a natural and effective way to support the body to get the rest that it needs. There are 3 ways you can use the oils to promote peaceful sleep:

Aromatically~diffuse in your sleeping area or rub a few drops on your hands and take 5-10 long deep breaths before bed allowing your body to rest and relax.

Topically~Rub a few drops on the bottoms of your feet, back of your neck and across your forehead or take a warm bath and add the oil blend with 1 cup of epsom salts to your tub for a long relaxing soak!

Internally~Put a few drops under your tongue, in water ( please drink your oils and water out of glass ) or in a gel cap.

Below are some recommended oils and blends to try!

You can also apply the solution wi a brush if you want to be more precise in your application to a specific area. Several applications, every few days may be necessary.

8 oz of vegetable oil or nut butters (almond oil, avocado, coco butter, sunflower oil, shea butter, coconut oil)

1 oz of local beeswax (make sure the beekeepers do not use anitbiotics or fungacides on their bees)

1 cup of distilled or purified water (you can substitute some of this for aloe vera gel, herbal tea, or floral waters)

4 drops vitamin e oil

10-20 drops of your favorite  essential oil (we used an awesome combo of ylang ylang, patchouli, and lime). *For sun protection use helichrysum, myrrh, patchouli, rose, lavender, sandalwood or event better just use d Immortelle blend as it has almost all of those oils in it!

Equipment needed:

Vitamix or blender

Glass Pyrex

Spatula

Pot to create double boiler (to create a double boiler fill pot with about an inch of water and then place pyrex on top of water)

Instructions:

Melt beeswax and oils/butters in double boiler on low heat. Do not let the mixture boil

Warm water/aloe mixture up a bit

Once beeswax has melted complete, take it off the stove and allow to cool to a temp close to the water temp. Or Warm the water to the oil temp.

Place oil in blender and add 1 vitamin e capsule

Turn blender on med-high and when the liquid turns cloudy add essential oils and half the water, it will begin to solidify and you must quickly add the rest of the water before it fully congeals.

Use clan spatula to pour into to glass jars with air tight lids

Label and store in fridge until you are ready to use

Wait until lotion is cool before placing lid on jar so as not to grow mold

Lotion should be used soon after making to ensure freshness

Make Your Own Toothpaste

Make your own minty fresh toothpaste!

D.I.Y. Toothpaste
makes 1/4 cup

  • 6 tablespoons baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons salt (play around with this for some the salt is too much)
  • 2 tablespoons glycerin or unrefined coconut oil + stevia powder (glycerin is sweet so if you sub it for coconut oil go for some stevia powder to sweeten the toothpaste)
  • 10-20 drops peppermint, melaleuca, cinnamon, wild orange, or Protective essential oil (or a combo of one or two) Wild Orange is best for kids while Protective Blend or Melaleuca is great for gum issues and peppermint helps with the taste.

Mix all the ingredients together into a smooth paste. Store in a covered container like a small mason jar. Make is 30 day batches for freshness.
